The Baptism of the Holy Spirit Romans 6:4-6

Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be [a]done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.

The gift of the promised Holy Spirit is received by those who call on the crucified, buried, and risen Lord Jesus Christ with saving faith. Saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ grants the baptism of the Holy Spirit. To deny this would be to deny the saving power of Jesus Christ and ignore His divinely appointed role as savior of the world.

John 7:37-39
37 On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. 38 He who believes in me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” 39 But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those [a]believing in Him would receive; for the [b]Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
John 5:24
24 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.
Mark 1:8
I indeed baptized you with water, but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”
John 1:12-14
12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the [a]right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Acts 2:38
38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the [a]remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Therefore; saving faith in Jesus Christ becomes the means by which people are baptized by the Holy Spirit. Saving faith is abiding faith. All of Jesus Christ must be received.

Jesus Christ Demand’s:

Our Submission to His Lordship: Submissive obedience in our mind, will, and emotions to His word making us slaves of righteousness
Romans 6:18, John 3:21, John 8:31, Luke 6:46

Our Repentance of sin: Jesus Christ commands us to repent of sin. (Change our mind)
 Acts 2:38, Romans 14:11, Mathew 16:24, 25, Acts 3:19

Faith in His power to save: We must fully trust in Jesus Christ’s atonement (payment for sin) on the cross as a full payment for our redemption (pardon for sin) resulting in eternal life.
Romans 3:21-25, Ephesians 2:8, 15:4, John 1:29, John 3:16

Once a person exercises saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; they are baptized by the Holy Spirit into the family of God. This is a onetime event not to be confused by being “filled with the Holy Spirit” which we are commanded to continually pursue. (Ephesians 5:18)
1 Corinthians 12:13
13 For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink [a]into one Spirit.
Galatians 3:26-27
26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
Ephesians 4:4-6 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in [a]you all.

There are many benefits to being baptized by the Holy Spirit:

Salvation: We pass from a state of spiritual death to spiritual life (John 5:24)
Freedom from Sin: We are no longer slaves of sin (Romans 6:18)
Adoption: Adopts us into the family of God. (Ephesians 1:5, 1 John 3:1-2)
Redemption: A pardon from the penalty of sin (Romans 6:23, Ephesians 1:7)
Justification: Pronounced not guilty by God (Romans 8:33-34)
Sanctification: Being set apart for God unto good works. (Romans 6:18-19)
Reconciliation: God is no longer angry with us (Romans 5:1)
Future Glorification: The Holy Spirit will resurrect our bodies in glory. (2 Cor 4:14)
Companionship or Comfort: Stays with us eternally. (1 John 4:4)
Spiritual Giftedness: The Holy Spirit grants us spiritual gifts (Ephesians 1:3)
Fruitfulness: We bear spiritual fruit. (Galatians 5:22-23)
Power: Enables us to proclaim the gospel. (John 15:26-27)
Worship: Enables us to worship God. (John 4:23)
Wisdom and Knowledge: Divine wisdom and knowledge about spiritual reality (Ephesians 1:17)
