The One True God

Acts 17:23

23 for as I was passing through and considering the objects of your worship, I even found an altar with this inscription:

TO THE UNKNOWN GOD.

Therefore, the One whom you worship without knowing, Him I proclaim to you:

No Equals

In beginning to speak about the attributes of God; one would do well to remember that there is only One True God (Isaiah 45:5-6  am the Lord, and there is no other;
There is no God besides Me.
I will gird you, though you have not known Me,
That they may know from the rising of the sun to its setting
That there is none besides Me.
am the Lord, and there is no other; This One True God as revealed in holy scripture has no equals or comparable creatures. Isaiah 40:25 (To whom then will you liken Me,
Or to whom shall I be equal?” says the Holy One.)

No Beginning or end

The One True God has no beginning and no end. Psalm 90:2  Before the mountains were brought forth,
Or ever You [
a]had formed the earth and the world,
Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God. Colossians 1:17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

Perfect in Power

The One True God is omnipotent (all powerful) and works everything according to the council of His own will. Daniel 4:35 All the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing;
He does according to His will in the army of heaven
And among the inhabitants of the earth.
No one can restrain His hand
Or say to Him, “What have You done?”
Psalm 62:11 God has spoken once,
Twice I have heard this:
That power belongs to God. Proverbs 19:21 There are many plans in a man’s heart,
Nevertheless the Lord’s counsel—that will stand.

All knowing

The One True God knows everything there is to know. Psalm 139:4  For there is not a word on my tongue,
But behold, O Lord, You know it altogether. Isaiah 40:28-31

28 Have you not known?
Have you not heard?
The everlasting God, the Lord,
The Creator of the ends of the earth,
Neither faints nor is weary.
His understanding is unsearchable.

Created the universe

The One True God created the universe. Hebrews 11:3 By faith we understand that the [a]worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible. Jeremiah 32:17 ‘Ah, Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too [a]hard for You.

Sustains the universe

The One True God sustains the universe. Colossians 1:17

And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. Matthew 6:30 30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

Is a Plurality

The One True God is a plurality. Luke 3:22 And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.” John 10:30  I and My Father are one.” 1 Corinthians 2:10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.

Is holy

The One True God is holy.

Revelation 4 After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, “Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.”

Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne. [a]And He who sat there was like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, in appearance like an emerald. Around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and on the thrones I saw twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in white [b]robes; and they had crowns of gold on their heads. And from the throne proceeded lightnings, [c]thunderings, and voices. Seven lamps of fire were burning before the throne, which are the[d] seven Spirits of God.

Before the throne there [e]was a sea of glass, like crystal. And in the midst of the throne, and around the throne, were four living creatures full of eyes in front and in back. The first living creature was like a lion, the second living creature like a calf, the third living creature had a face like a man, and the fourth living creature was like a flying eagle. The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying:

“Holy,[f] holy, holy,
Lord God Almighty,
Who was and is and is to come!”

Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever, 10 the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying:

11 “You are worthy, [g]O Lord,
To receive glory and honor and power;
For You created all things,
And by Your will they [
h]exist and were created.”

Revealed Himself through His Son in these last days

The One True God revealed Himself though His Son Jesus Christ. Hebrews 1:2  has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the [a]worlds;
