Human philosophy is inadequate in obtaining righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. God’s perfect wisdom is only found in person of Jesus Christ which is God’s wisdom personified. (1: 29) The wisdom of the cross of Christ may be ridiculed by an unbelieving world (Those who are wise in their own eyes) but it is God who determines what is truly wise and what is truly foolish. (1:27)
God’s wisdom preached or taught must begin with Christ crucified because there is no power in human philosophy. True wisdom begins when we accept God’s testimony about his Son Jesus and build on the knowledge that He is both our Lord and Savior. (2:9) The Holy Spirit comes to inhabit those who love Jesus Christ and gradually teaches believers the deep things of God (2:13) Apart from the mind of Christ which is revealed by the Holy Spirit; man is hopelessly kept in spiritual darkness. (2:14)
